When I record video on my openbox, I get a series of 0xx.ts and 0xx.dvr files, the ts files are the video files, and the dvr files (I think) are the dirrectory files describing the ts files. I have never messed with the dvr files.
You can play the ts files on the openbox itself, or download them to a computer, and play them with windows media player. If you want to put the ts files together, or edit them you can use a program like TSSnipper to do it. For more information on getting/using video editors go to this site: http://www.videohelp.com/
They have a lot of programs online, and links to others, as well as a large forum dedicated to video file creation and editing.

You have the dvr settings set to ??
I have mine set to ps record on.

Good luck

If you want easy to play recordings without the different file segments then choose PS in recording options. PS uses more space on drive though. What firmware are you using? The first openbox firmwares recorded in a .dvr format I believe, that you did have to convert to be able to watch. The openbox does not have the ability to scramble anything. Get back to us on the firmware and what you are recording in ts or ps and we can help. I'm pretty sure what I posted above is correct...but others may have more help as well.

It says it has blind scan. It is not based on the ali chip...but sunplus which in my opinion is a better chip. Most of us have openbox s10s, which are different firmwares. I tried to download your video but it needs a decrypt code...????  Can you post some screen shots of your setup page?

Yeah I think it encrypts the recorded files and can only be viewed by the box itself maybe its the first one with DRM  digital rights management, i hope there is a way to open the files becasue they are my own files of FTA programming,

can you believe Im the only one with a cell phone without a camera so cannot take screenshots

I found the blinsscan thanks

its a shame becasue the openbox z5 look pretty impressive, doesnt heatup, its small it has a lot of apps, it has a very good S2 tuner

I highly doubt it encrypts. But I may be wrong. It looks like a good box. i have two boxes, izibox and ismart m100,  that use that chip and they do very well. Neither encrypts anything. try recording the m10 beach cams on amc 1 KU. No way it has anything that would cause encryption. Then post the file here or somewhere and we'll look at it.

I found some software, but I couldn't find a user manual online for it.
The list of apps is very impressive on that box.

Here's the link to the software, but I wouldn't load it unless you find out more about it.

http://www.yojiatech.com/a/Support/Download/

There is something on that same site about getting into different menus, that may be something, although it may have something to do with that software as well.

You can see the menu's displayed on the box at this link

http://www.yojiatech.com/a/Product/Satellite_Receiver/Dreambox_Receiver/2014/0617/347_9.html

I know it looks like dreambox but it's openbox

Given that the Loranz is a fairly new model, it's Freeview approved, and you are using terrestrial (=HD) feeds, then I think you are probably out of luck.

I suspect that the issue you have to deal with isn't finding software that will cope with and convert FV terrestrial signals, despite the fairly rare (HE-AAC LATM) audio codec they use, that's pretty straightforward. Rather, to gain the FV approval, they are forced to encrypt the recordings in a way that ties them to the unit you recorded them on. If this is the case, the encryption means you have hit a dead end. Options are essentially:

- give up
- buy a different unapproved (= non-crippled) FV box, or
- go the PC route.

There are more esoteric options that would work, such as capturing the output of the box to a PC using an HDCP stripper, but the ones above are the simplest.

That receiver has samba and networking built in....so it should show up on your computer/network. I'd leave the HDD plugged into Openbox and try to play it on the computer through your network and see if that can be done.

Edit: Not sure what they mean by terrestrial...but that means OTA (antennae on the roof) which that box can't do. I still would be shocked if it was encrypting.

audio played fine on vlc, mchc, windows media. No video....however if that is the vocality on satmex 5....video is a problem. No scrambled sign at all.

Can you record and post something from Puerto rico mux on G16 Cband? Do you have a cband dish? If only ku then try and record something from BYU tv on K G28. That will help me a lot.

I've run into the same thing on some files I recorded from 61.5 sat. I can play them on the openbox s10, but when I try to play, or edit them on the PC, they won't play.

Looks like device dependant encoding of some kind.  I don't understand it at all.

I had the same thing happen when I used a western digital my book, and tried to copy the files from the hard drive without using the my book interface. That was a file salvage operation after the hard drive crashed. I was able to use the interface and copy files, but when I didn't use the interface, it wouldn't work, even though I could see more files.

The problem with all this is using a flash drive it is almost as cheap to go out and buy the video, if you can't move it.
