Okay here a real easy question for Pansat 9200HD users. I've used these receivers for years and always wondered. Do I need to do a smart scan from the setup menu periodically to update my transponder/channel listing for a particular satelite. That's what I've doing. Or can I just do a satelite scan from the setup menu instead.

Sat scan for channel update only using existing transponders. Smart scan for updating transponder and channel list.

How often should I update channels on existing transponders? How often should I update transponders?

Thanks for the feedback

With all the changes that happen in the world of satellite, I almost always update the TP list along with the channels. Transponders come and go just like channels. CNC News on the G-19 bird is a recent example of a channel moving transponders. Doing just a sat scan would of missed it as I needed the new TP frequency. JMHO. Also I update a few times a week but do it as I watch. I don't bother scanning all birds at once, (unless I am really bored), because of the time it takes.  Have a great day!

doing a satellite scan only scans the already stored transponders in the Pansat.. doing a smart scan finds new transponders.

you can update as often as you like.. once a month.. once a week... once a day [smile]

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
