How come there hasn't been any g17 ku horizontal feeds in a while?
Has data taking up the slots?
Remember there used to be 11960 tr 13 and 12000 tr 15
lately feeds shifted to 12040 tr 17 and 12080 tr 19, 12120 tr 21
Just wondering if something has taken over horizontal?

It's seems to me that the horizontal feeds have been sparse over the last couple of years on G17. I know the Big 14 Network used them quite a bit some scrambled, some clear last basketball season. I'd do a blind scan and maybe two or three TP's was all I would get. AMC 16 got like that towards the end of it's tenure, most of the stuff was on vertical.

Almost all of Galaxy 17 Ku horizontal transponders are in use.
Only transponder 21 looks to be available.
Here is the BLSA scan:

yes, there is quite a bit of data and likely VSAT traffic on the H side that there doesn't leave much room for occasional video.

What is the data on these channels? I don't really know how to work the question, like satellite internet data or proprietary system data (like SiriusXM Digital Signal). I don't have any equipment yet but I am curious.

some are home/office internet service (usually to rural areas that aren't wired wtih decent DSL internet), other stuff appears to be VSAT, but my guess on most of it since it doesn't fit the profile of VSAT or home internet services is aernautical broadband, the hottest segment of the satellite market right now.  There seems to be an insatiable need for the data services that you find on commercial flights.

Oh ok. I never even thought about the fact that most lottery machine terminals use satellite as well AFAIK.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
