Who is the distributor for satellite products "Mutant" DVB-HEVC 4K in North America? It works with OpenPli / enigma2 like the old AzBox HD. It’s used in France by tv distributor Free. I can not find information on the Internet.

Hi Jean,

I don't know if there is a N. American Distributor.  Maybe someone else will know.  Did a google search and did not find it in N. America.  Only went a couple of pages deep in my search.

Were hoping to have the Octagon 4K receiver in stock soon though.

Very interesting box.  Thanks for the effort.  What's the time-frame for "soon"?

Hi Gang,

Sorry for the late reply, was away over the weekend.

Was expecting an invoice from them when I got back and it is not here, so checking with them again today.  So hopefully in a week or two.

Thanks,

Rick

From what I've read the Octagon SF4008 4k doesn't currently have working Blindscan?    Any word on this Rick?

Hi mr3p,

You are correct.  Currently it has No Blind Scan.  The rep I discussed this with said that they have plans to offer software to allow it to blind scan sometime in May.  To most of the users I talked to told me that they were not conerned about not having Blind Scan, as they have other receivers that they use to Blind Scan with.  However, I do know that it would be a benefit if it did have a decent Blind Scan ability.

They did send me a Pro Forma Invoice, but also told me that they are currently out of stock and will not have them back in stock until June.

So looks like it will be June or later now before we can get any receivers from them.  [frown]

Thanks,

Rick

Thanks Rick.   I suspect most current Octagon 4k users have fixed satellite needs rather feed hunting.    Hopefully by the time you receive them they will have made the needed update to support Blindscan as it looks like a great receiver.

It seems  specs show it is hardware Blindscan ready:

DescriptionThe Si21662D integrates two separate high-performance digital demodulators for the DVB-S2/S and DVB-S2X standards into a single compact package. Leveraging Silicon Labs' proven digital demodulation architecture, the Si21662D achieves excellent reception performance while significantly minimizing front-end design complexity, cost, and power dissipation. Connecting the Si21662D to a dual satellite tuner, results in a high-performance and cost optimized TV or STB front-end solution.
The satellite reception allows demodulating widespread DVB-S, DIRECTV™ (DSS), DVB-S2, DIRECTV™ (AMC) legacy standards, and new Part II of DVB-S2 (S2X) satellite broadcast standard. A zero-IF interface (differential) allows for a seamless connection to market proven satellite silicon tuners. It also integrates two DiSEqC™ 2.0 LNB interfaces for satellite dish control and, for each satellite demodulator, an equalizer to compensate for echoes in long cable feeds from the LNB to the satellite tuner RF input.
Variable Coding and Modulation (VCM), QPSK/8PSK, 8/16/32APSK demodulation schemes and broadcast services profile are the main specifications of the DVB-S2/S2X demodulator. Silicon Labs' innovative LDPC and BCH decoding architecture delivers best-in-class reception while exhibiting low power dissipation.
The Si21662D offers an on-chip blind scanning algorithm, as well as blind lock function.
The Si21662D embeds two independent programmable transport stream interfaces which provide a flexible range of output modes, including a cross-bar functionality, and are fully compatible with all MPEG decoders or conditional access modules to support any customer application.

Hard ware blind scan would be a plus.  Guess I missed something in the translation when they told me it would be a software update.

Hope to get some soon though and will see how they do.

Thanks Chris!

Probably a rewrite of the software to implement the hardware capability. The word is that the dvb c blind scan is working

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
