received email from azbox today about the elite. since i don't have any warranty on the receiver it's 35eros an hour plus shipping. i have been trying to find out how to calculate shipping charges to see if it would really be worth my time and cost,or just buy another receiver. any help if anyone has had to do this before would be greatly appreciated.

1 Euro= $1.25 USD approx, it changes daily by a cent or two, but right around their.

I think you just need to call Rick and get you're self the ME receiver, if my Elite broke I would self it use the ME here, I find that I use the ME more and more once I got a handle on it. its a good receiver, with lot of potential.

thanks captain:
35 euros + roughly 44.50 us dollars an hour. like you said it changes almost daily as we all know. i found another elite on fleabay, owner says he bought it from rick for someone else and never got paid for it. the buy now price is 180.00 + 15.00 shipping. i placed a bid knowing i wouldn't win it,so,if i don't i may contact Rick about the Me. if i can't swing the price,i may have to settle for the dbs 6000

Who knows how much that bill could be if you sent it over the pond.Only to find it may be more than a new Elite. What do you have to lose at this point?

If that didnt work I would do just like Captain stated..Get a Me.

I hear everyone saying to get the ME but if you decide to upgrade why not the Premium Plus.
Then you have wireless capabilities already built in, which the ME does not have.
Also the learning curve on the ME is still in a process that is ongoing and many will find it
daunting.
The Premium Plus is still the top of the line in the Azbox and a bit more expensive but well worth it.
Going from the Elite to the Premium Plus will not be as much of a challenge figuring out how to use it
to it's fullest potential and there is a user's guide already in place for it when one has a question.
however, one needs to think of what they are looking for, as the ME has some abilities that can be
attractive like the ability for the end user to use more then one type of firmware out there for the receiver.
This would require the end user to figure the in's and out's of each one as there are no instructions out
there on the different ones which can present a challenge for many.

Do you find you're ME ""Daunting"" Vendig?

the learning curve is with any new receiver that some one buys, and the ME receiver really has 3 learning curves, 1 for each FW that can boot to. but after about 6-months and several FW changes in my ME I like it, and its a far better recorder than my Elite is by a long shot. lots of folks like them for streaming video back and forth that I don't do here at all. after all if their is going to be any hope for mpeg-4 H254 video its going to be with the ME 1st, and don't know if it will be for their older models or not, but time will tell. so far it is more stable of a receiver looking back in 2008 when I 1st got my Elite, but they have had 4 years to get their FW perfected to now, wile the ME only has 6-months or so to date. but either way I wood sooner go with the ME, than a Premium+ after using both models of AZ-receivers, but I have had so many mpeg receivers here, and have set up so many different models of mpegs receivers too, that you just need to keep a open mind and learn their ways of doing things for that model of a receiver that you're working with.

Actually Captain, the word "daunting" came from several other people not me, who had used the ME receiver.
I like to keep an open mind and figuring that when people are seeking alternatives that the Plus is also one to consider.
It is still the top of the line for the Az models at this time.
So as an alternative it is a good suggestion.
I am not putting any of the az receivers down and never have, however, I have to give the facts that are out there by more then just me as an end user.
Many people never could figure out how to use the azbox properly at all.
I have no clue as to what type of hobbiest the original OP is and the option still stands that the Premium Plus is a good viable solution to their needs when coming from an Elite model if they want to keep with the same type of settings they were used to.

The ME has many good qualities and will take longer to get a handle on then most want to put out the effort for.
You and Emil have used it longer then most others, I have played with it for awhile and personally look forward to the firmware getting to the point where in N.A. it would be a Great receiver, but I have to be honest and say that the firmware as it is right now is not ready for what most peoples desires are.  At least with the plus they have a suitable solution.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
