CrazyScan2 is not for satellite, but for terrestrial TV, it won't work with 6908.

stop you spam [smile]
crazyscan2 for terrestrial/cable devices.

Next - 5990 not have full support with direct hw control in StreamReaderEx-BDA, so CrazyScan not support it.
Detailed info about error you can found in streamreader.log

Seem to be having a bit of trouble with Crazyscan. Worked fine until a few days ago when I started it up without the TBS5980 connected. I also have an HDHomeRun on the LAN. It starts up with the HDHomeRun listed in the devices drop-down menu, before I can change it the software stops (crashes?). maybe there is a file somewhere I can edit to make it switch devices?
Windoze 8.2 pc 3.9G quad 16gb memory using the USB2 port.
Tnx..

I didn't think that an HDHomeRun would be able to function with Crazyscan, so I'm not sure why it would show up in the list.
It sounds like you just don't have any device installed that can function with Crazyscan, or am I missing something??
Or maybe newer HDHR's do more than the old one that I use??

No definitely doesn't work with Crazyscan, but it sees it for some reason. The USB receiver did work until I removed it to use it on another computer. Put it back after but forgot to plug the USB cable back into the PC, so when I opened CrazyScan it picked the network receiver instead of the TBS5980, and then crashes before I can get to the drop down menu to "unselect" the HDHomeRun and select the proper device. Kinda thinking I'll have to delete and re-install Crazyscan. It does work on the laptop yet.

I have been having trouble with the 5980 though, it will often run for only a few minutes (regardless of driver or software used). Seems the receiver just goes dead after a while. I can prolong it's "functional" period by adding heatsinks and a fan to keep it cool but that only adds a minute or so, enough to complete a blind scan or at least part of one. The original power supply put out too much voltage and also superimposed AC (3-4vrms) which I found out when troubleshooting the problem. Been using a bench supply with variable voltage set to the recommended 7.4vdc, but I think something was damaged... maybe a regulator or IC that does the RF... haven't opened it up to check farther. Vender won't answer any of my queries (No it's not Rick's, it came from the far east) which indicates the quality of support from them.

Problem with the 5980 resolved, replaced it with a TBS-6903. Works well with the CrazyScan software but can't get SmartDVB to scan for some reason. PCIe card works really well!

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
