I worked with many tbs tuners(6925,6983,6903,6908,5927) and I can say that all these tuners know and lock signal in 16/32apsk.The problem is not that you can't receive this kind of signal with all cards above,but what you do with it if you don't have an app/players or a dedicated device that you can use for these streams? Feeds in 16apsk can be open with these cards,but what you do with generic stream in S2/8PSK/16/32APSK?And I think this question is addressed more to developers of programs, and not for those who produce the dvb-s cards.
But if I had to recommend a card,I would choose 6983 v1.2hw,which is the best card for enthusiasts.But because 6983 no longer sells,then 6903 is as good for what you want.

Thanks for bringing to my attention. Looks equivalent hardware-wise to the TBS 6903 I was just about to order, but at a somewhat better price.

Be aware that Digital Devices cards are (as far as I know) currently not supported in StreamReaderEx-BDA from crazycat, so no CrazyScan, no EBS Pro, lack of Blindscan in SmartDVB etc. Probably currently only MIS is supported native by drivers.

Thanks, useful for potential Windows users to know.

I'm used to these limitations as a Linux only user. As far as I can see updateDVB should work OK.

And serial TS bus with 90 mbit limitation :-) Look like STm optimize STB bussines and stop STV0910B production and offer STV0910A with same price. So DD only use advanced chip in new batch STV0910-based cards ( Cine S2, Duoflex S2, Octopus S2 Pro ).

Now we wait for new L4M?

Hi Tholex,

The LM4 products look very similar to the Digital Devices ones, I wonder what the points of difference are?

Have just today got a new system up, running the DD S2 Cine V7A card with a TT S2 6400. The DD driver for Linux does not yet have MIS support, but they told me it's on the list.

Having got both these cards coexisting, I'll now look at hacking the MIS work that (I think) Crazycat did for the TBS STV0910 driver, into the driver I'm using which is from a tree Daniel Scheller is working on, toward DD integration into the mainline kernel.

https://github.com/herrnst/dddvb-linux-kernel

As for MIS capable client software, I'm using vdr which supports this, but currently only with stv090x, so again, at least something to start from.

Nobody said it's easy... [wink]

Richard

current stv090x, stv0910 demod driver in dddvb also support MIS+PLS for Cine S2 6.5, 7.x; Duoflex S2 V3,4 [smile] Si2183 demod driver from TBS also support mis+pls [smile] some hi-end receivers with latest Broadcom SoC + Silabs demods support this stuff [smile] Hi-end now 200-300 bucks [smile]
What sensations you are want from "DVB-corpses" like TT S2-6400 or L4M ?[smile]

P.S. STi7111-based STB's like Fulan Spark 1, Amiko Alien and Alien Mini, Gi 8120 & 8120 Lite support MIS+PLS [smile] 50-60 bucks [smile]

The TT S2-6400 I use just for the hardware decoder.

I know I can get a $50 STB that will support MIS+PLS, but it has nothing like the flexibility of a vdr (and maybe TVheadend, never used it), based PVR, which is my primary requirement.

Over the OnBoard Located Expansion Ports (3x), the card can at any time to expand via expansion modules.
So it will be possible to add future DuoFlex S2X modules?[cool]

@Crazycat,

Maybe I'm missing something, but I do not see MIS in the dddvb driver you mention, stv0910.
Looking at stv0910.c:

.caps = FE_CAN_INVERSION_AUTO |
FE_CAN_FEC_AUTO |
FE_CAN_QPSK |
FE_CAN_2G_MODULATION

Shouldn't there be FE_CAN_MULTISTREAM as well?

Also, I contacted Digital Devices and they said MIS is still on the TODO list.

Thanks. Still confused why capabilities does not show FE_CAN_MULTISTREAM.

Edit: One hour later. Added FE_CAN_MULTISTREAM to .caps, recompiled and am now able view MIS channels in vdr!

Funny comment " Backwards compatibility to "crazy" API" [smile] I hear this from "idiots" who produce good hw with "dirty" drivers and soft [smile]
