I'm in the same company with techjunkie02-- only ever used the box as a receiver.  Rick sold it to me with firmware pre-loaded.  Now I realize that my unit is in fact an Elite as shown on back of receiver!  The box it came in says Azbox Ultra. So I guess once again I've confused the matter by not paying attention to detail.  As a retired teacher, pretty dumb, huh?  Anyway, I had installed a newer bin file maybe a year or more ago, which permits some degree of blind scanning.  So my apologies to techjunkie02, who must indeed have an Ultra with no front display, and to rempfer as well.  I couldn't find any used tvs  with component inputs today. I'll keep after it and am sure I can resolve the issue eventually.   Thanks guys!

Finally had some success!  With settings COMPOSITE NTSC 480i (only option available), I hooked up the green rca cable for component out on recvr to composite in on tv in game mode, and bingo, a clear monochrome picture. Connecting cable from composite out on recvr to composite in on tv still doesn't get a picture.  I guess if I buy a new tv with component and hdmi, I'll have color video.  Now I wonder if this posting should be in the AZ Elite section, as I had always mistakenly thought I owned  an Ultra model. (See previous entry).

Glad you got it! I have an Ultra and from my experience the composite output always works, even if the receiver gets switched to PAL, so you can always set it back to NTSC. Once set back to NTSC you can select HDMI at what ever resolution your TV supports. Wish the firmware for North America would remove the PAL option so this doesn't happen. I think the unit was sent default to PAL from the factory, I purchased mine from Rick who set it up for NTSC with a basic channel list.

The AzBox receivers I have have been quite reliable other than their usual quirks. Enjoy! [smile]

This may sound silly, but you may want to connect the az to both tvs at the same time. One by rgb green and to the other by rca red yellow and white. This will save you from constantly having to change cables, and then... using the monochrome display on the one tv ....cycle through the settings and see if it will display on the other tv. Some electronic devices have some sort of detection mechanism...and wont display an option or put video out unless that connection is present when it is selected. In other words the az may not display through through rca when you select it unless it is connected. You may be selecting it while rgb is in place and then when you switch cables to try it doesnt work. Otherwise it sounds like your rca output is broke on the az.

Just a thought. Glad you atleast got something. One more thought....i remember something similar happening to me. The yellow cable broke some how but was not visible break. I thought dvd player or tv was broke. Took a chance and put red where yellow was at both connections and video showed. Put yellow where red was for both connections and got audio through it...switched back and no video again. May have had wire loose and couldnt transmit enough for video but could audio. Havent figured it out, just replaced cable. But i have never heard of rca outputs going bad. Hdmi yes...see openbox s10....rca no. I found two old hdtvs put out for recycle. I asked the owners if i could have to tinker with...they said sure. In one case the digital cable tuner was broke but hdmi and rca worked. The other hdmi was broke but cable and rca workd. I didnt care hooked them up. One later died and went to recycle. The other is purring along in my basement.

Hi Mountaineer, I was thinking this morning that maybe the composite problem was nothing more complicated than a defective rca jack on the Elite.  Great suggestion re hooking up both sets of cables at once, I'll try a bit later and give info.    As Ralf Black might say, vielen Dank!

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
