Had a tv with component video inputs working with my AZ ultra a few months ago, but that tv died. Now I'm trying to pick up the HD channels on 12457 on 61.5 sat.  My 2 working tvs only have composite and F connector inputs, and I can't get any picture with composite vid and aud hooked up.  Can someone help? {edit} IE I can't get to the home setup menu screen.

Use the yellow rca for video. Then just cycle through the resolution with the resolution button. You can plug an hdmi cable or component and see when the video shows. Only had to do it once so far!

Hi foxtail, thanks.  composite video out from azbox to composite video in on tv.  Resolution button several times came to <composite> on receiver front, then NTSC, then 480i , hit Ok but still no picture.  TV on game mode, just blank screen.  Tried tv mode and tried all channels 2 to 74

I dont have ulta. But many receivers i have you have to change the setting in setup from rgb to yuv. Changing aspect ratio i dont think will do that.
Someone with azultra can post blind button sequence to do that hopefully if that is the case.

I have an ultra but it does not have a front panel, just a red light when is on. Dou you try with another set of A/V cables. I have been able to see video on any connection mode (HDMI-Component-composite) without change any setup, or at least a blinking video but not a blank screen. Usually the composite connection on the tv are located in Aux?-Video?-Line?.

Well, tried to get good results with my 2nd TV, a Sylvania 23" model, but no luck.  Now leaning toward hitting 3 or 4 thrift stores in Fairmont on Monday to look for another TV.  I thought the picture quality of my former TV using component cables looked quite acceptable when it was working. I suppose HDMI would give best quality, but cost will surely be greater. I know a family who have a large flat screen with HDMI, and it probably has RGB as well, so I'll follow Mountaineer's advice.  Thanks for suggestions and ideas posted.

fafhrd2  , let us know if you get it. Maybe you can post a blind button push sequence for that  for others in the future when you get yours up and running. Good luck!

Also this is a long shot...do you have a stand alone dvd burner? I have a vcr/dvd burner combo. It has rgb inputs for burning dvds. If you have one you an run it into it and they have composite out and most of the time coax out to connect to tv. That would get the picture on your tv.

I grabbed this from somewhere a while back.  I think it worked for me.

Code:
After a reboot the receiver defaults to pal format

To changed the setting in the Menu from PAL, back to NTSC

You need to do the following steps.

1) Reboot the receiver by the switch on the back of the unit.
After it powers up and you see the menu rolling, follow these steps:

2) Down Arrow 6 Times

3) Hit the OK button

4) Right Arrow 1 Time

5) Down Arrow 1 Time

6) Right Arrow 1 Time

You will now have changed the setting in the Menu from PAL, back to NTSC.

7) The receiver will ask you if you want to save your change and say YES.

I realize these instructions talk about being able to see the menu (meaning they're not specifically for the Ultra), but I think they still work -- if you have a (NTSC) TV plugged in I think you can see the output from step 7 on its screen....

FYI... I have an Ultra... I just hooked an RCA Cable (yellow) from it to the Video in on my TV, powered up the Ultra and it came up on screen, no problem, didn't have to change a thing. Worked just fine.

BTW, I had been using it through the HDMI connection, and, also my Resolution, in the Ultra, is set to 720p. and Display menu shows;
video output... HDMI
video format... NTSC
vid res....          720p

So you may have that PAL problem...try the key sequence that rempfer gave you...good luck!!

Hello rempfer and techjunkie, rempfer when you say "when you see the menu rolling", do you mean a text message scrolling on the front panel of the receiver itself?  I cannot see anything  on tv screen.  techjunkie, I've done what you advised using both my tv sets -- no dice.  However, your interest is very much appreciated.

The Ultra does not display anything on the front panel..it just has 2 indicator lights. If you have a front panel display with text, you may have a different receiver.

The rolling he was talking about is the video signal on the screen, if the receiver is set to PAL, then the TV will not sync the display, and it will "roll". If you are not getting any display then you may have other issues... I'd suggest, if you know of a TV shop, maybe just take your receiver there and and ask if you can try all 3 connections(HDMI, Component, Composite) on a TV...see if any of them work...... good luck.

Hello techjunkie02... Well my Azbox Ultra does have a front panel window about 2 or 3 inches wide.  When the receiver boots, it displays TV, then the last channel I was tuned to several months ago... Lesea 2.  When you push the up or down button on the remote, "Lesea 3" or "Lesea 1" appear, and then further button presses will show other channels from Galaxy 16 C I'd been watching then.  My post of July 26 was describing what appears on my receiver front window when the RESOLUTION button is pressed.  Now when I hook up either of my 2 mpeg2 receivers to the composite A/V jacks on my 2 working tvs, I can see video and hear audio when aimed at a satellite (currently Echostar 61.5 Ku sat, the one with the 15 SD channels on 12224).  But the Ultra shows blank screen when composite A/V cables are attached, no matter which video mode I select from that front window (HDMI, Component, Composite, etc., I've tried each one.

Okay, couple more points then I'm out of ammo [smile]

I've had mine 6 or 7 years..only issue I ever had was having to do the PAL to NTSC recovery. Don't remember ther ever being a text display on front, maybe on newer models, or yours may be a clone??

Also, I noticed my cheap LCD TV will sometimes not display video, until you re-select it. If it doesn't detect a signal for a couple minutes..it shuts down the display...very annoying, and drove me crazy til I realized what it was doing.LOL!

If you have an old analog tv available, try connecting to it, they are "dumb" and just display whatever is on the line....the newer TV's may just shut off the video if it detects that PAL signal.

That's it!!!  I cannot help you any further with info that I have right now...good luck!

I'm not familiar with the Ultra (......) but I'm curious.
Does the Ultra work with any of those Azbox utilities like the Elite, Premium & Premium + do???
If so, one of those utilities is Azctrl.exe, which is a network remote control.  I use it all the time with my elite.  If the Azbox is on line, it will display menu pages on the computer, and allow you to send commands to the Azbox.  One might be able to go through the menu pages, and find out if something isn't set right.
If that doesn't work, perhaps there is some other application that will allow the Az me to send screen shots to the computer, so you could use the real remote, then look at the screen shot to see what you would see on the TV.

I would guess so, It does have network capability, BUT, I've only ever used it as a basic receiver, so I don't really know. How can I test it? Where can I find instructions?? thanks,
