Got a strange issue that I have seen develop this year.  I have both an AZ Elite and a TBS 6925 PCI card.  I don't get a great signal off of AMC-6 Ku but it usually is enough to watch the Sunday Night Football backhaul that is there almost every week.  With the 5/6 8PSK feed I've noticed that as long as I am at 57% or better with the Elite the signal will stay locked.  This year though even though I have been in the mid 60s I'm the signal continually breaks up for me, sometimes a lot sometimes not much and it is intermittent.  I decided to check the signal on my PCI card and as I monitored that I am getting no breakup or lost packets at all why the Elite is breaking up.

Does anyone else with the Elite have this problem?  Is it possible that something has changed with this feed this year?  I do not get this breakup on any other feeds that I have noticed.  I'm running 5020 firmware on the Elite.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I actually mistyped my TBS card, its the 6922.  I don't have Crazyscan, I just use it with Transedit which does not show a SNR.  However, it does show packet loss, and I did not have any when tuned to the signal while at the same time my Elite was constantly breaking up.  I've also noticed it seems to come and go, it will be OK for a while and then start breaking up for a while and so on.

Interesting.  Seems like something may have changed in the signal that is causing this issue with the Elite.  What firmware version are you using?

Does anyone else with an Elite have this issue?

no problem here with the video steady and solid with no break ups, using 5020 fw in a Elite. also signal very good here too with a 6-ft dish, and the sr here is 15000.

Well, had the same issue again last week with the SNF feed.  Signal was in low 60s but still breaking up on the Elite.  In the past 57% was always the threshold for breakup on 5/6 8PSK signals such as this one.  Not sure what changed all of a sudden.  TBS card was fine and didn't show any breakup.

When the leaves come down I will check the CBS feeds on G28.  I found that the threshold with those being 9/10 FEC was 67%.  Although I guess maybe it is an issue with the H264 NBC feed and the CBS feeds being MPEG2 won't be affected.

What signal strength are you getting the breakup at?  57% seemed to be the threshold for me on the 5/6 8PSK signals.

Well, interestingly enough tonight with the same signal levels as previous week I am not experiencing any breakups at all.  I noticed that this week the signal scanned in as SNF Uplink as opposed to previous weeks when it was NBC Prime.  So I can only surmise that possibly they are using a different encoder and the Elite was having some type of issue with the previous encoder and stream that they were using.

I also noticed right at halftime they seemed to have switched something again as now the signal is scanning in as WA-6 Encoder 2 and the strength has gone up.  No issues with breakup on this stream either.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
