First off there is no firmware out there that is killing clones.

That was just a certain dealer who has proved to be totally unrepeatable stating that.  That unrepeatable dealer started all the clone talk as they were just mad that other resellers weren't buying their AZBOX's from them.   In an attempt to vindicate themselves in their latest statement they still have not apologized to the dealers they falsely accused and Rick who supplied the real AZBOX's to them.  In fact they left those said dealers on their site as possibly selling clones as they didn't purchase the AZBOX's from them.  Just remember when a liar gets caught lying they just lie more to cover up their previous lies.

I for one do not trust anyone with more aliases than a fugitive.  If you have to hide behind a bunch of aliases that surely tells you about ones character.

Even the Open AZBOX MOD team who code the Enigma 2 firmware for the ME and MiniME stated that they will never make clone killing firmware.  There has been no new original factory firmware for the original AZBOX's in quite some time.  So if you have the latest (5311) you will be fine.

rick pointed me to where i could download 5309,but it shows up as 5308 on the AZ. i know that youtube doesn't work on this firmware and it seems real slow responding. is 5311 better than 5309? if youtube doesn't work, but,if it stops some of the lag in channel switching and control ( makes the box smoother ) i would like it a little more. i really don't care about using the internet ( i know it's extremely slow ) i just would like the other things to work i.e. streaming and over all functioning.

Mack,

Since I got my ME's I hardly ever use the Premium Plus even though it is a fine receiver.

I believe what you have is the latest firmware as I remember it showing up as 5308 in the receiver and that was just a mislabel from the coders.  Your best place to ask is in this section under another thread about firmware.

Yesterday I took apart a couple of my azbox premium plus receivers to see exactly what was on and in them for the first time ever.

I still have the original box (gift box) they came in and saw that on that box they each had a stamp on them saying “Made in Korea”, “Developed in Portugal” on the one side of the box.

Each premium plus receiver also had a white label on the underside of the receiver with the “OpenSat” name and the serial number on it. That same exact white label is also on the top of the gift box on top of the outside box.

On the back of the receiver there is a Stamp, not an actual label but stamped above the HDMI input where it shows  the distributor name of “Opensat lda”

Then inside the receiver directly under the hard drive enclosure there is a chip that is attached to the motherboard with another white label with the “OpenSat” name and the software version on it.

After I posted what I saw on another site I was then informed there was a person who actually bought a clone to see what the differences were. That site I was told was legit fta.

Up till that time I was completely unaware that site was even around and had not heard nor seen it before.

I went there and found others had reported the same thing I had found above.

Here are some things that were found on the clone receiver:

The clone shipped with a 0.9.5020 AZBox Premium HD+ firmware.

Some obvious differences the clone has.
(1) The AZBox logo is missing on the front of the receiver.
(2) There are 5 rows of vents on top.
(3) The bottom plate of the receiver is completely covered with rows of vents.

(4) The gift box does not have "Made in Korea" on it.

(5) It Does Have an Opensat sticker on the bottom along with the receiver's serial number. This is the only reference to Opensat on the receiver. (Missing are the labels inside that are on the original receivers and also missing is the stamp on the back of the receiver above the HDMI input where the original receivers show the distributor name of “Opensat lda”

There are photos of it over there also.

The claim of clones was made by one who did not confirm things for themselves.

That confirmation came out yesterday after photos were posted from one who actually bought a clone themselves.

I have kept out of this up till now and have been called "biased" by the one posting these false accusations since I purchased my receivers from Rick.
However I do not like to see one harmed by unfounded and unsubstantiated accusations that has been continually thrown out there from one who has no apparent real knowledge of what is what any-longer
as they never bought a real clone in to examine themselves before making their wild accusations.

Rick has always been above board in all the business dealings I have had with him and those actions speak much louder then what some others are trying to do.

Hello Vendig,

Yes you are correct in your comments. These are things that we are aware of and so are the attorneys that are involved.

I have been asked to try and refrain from making further comments.

Thanks,

I would like to add though, that all of this attention from all of the various forums, combined with our Special, "We Don't Sell No Stinking AZ Premium PLUS Clone Receivers", has led to sending us many new customers and some great business during what is normally a slower time for us.

Our previous customers, already know of our business reputation and most new forum visitors and readers are smart enough to read through all of the various posts and make up their own mind as to what is right and what is wrong.

So for that, I would like to offer a Big, THANK YOU!

Rick

Hey guys, I see you talking about 5311 being the latest firmware. I have found info saying 5402 is the lastest and includes a youtube fix.  This gets me wondering if it's a legit firmware site. I would think you guys would know about it before me. I found it with a simple google search. It's the Azbox Canada site.

Your first clue as to if its a Legit official AZBOX site is that its in Canada.  Everyone knows AZBOX was originated in Portugal by Opensat and no where else.  It's the same dealer that made the false claims about the clones being sold by other competitors in Canada.  The truth came out and now everyone knows about their deceitful business tactics trying to essentially scare people off by claiming to be the only place where you can get official AZBOX's in Canada.  In other words if you didn't get it from me in Canada then it must be a clone. They even went as far as claiming to have verified that a clone was sold by another dealer in Canada by them inspecting the receiver.  Funny thing is it was one of the receivers that Rick sold to that such dealer and was 100% real and an official AZBOX from Opensat.

When they originally made these false claims they posted it on every site that they could find. Yet AZBOX Canada (not affiliated with AZBOX in any way) still has not officially apologized to the dealer that they falsely claimed was selling clones and to Rick who supplied the 100% official AZBOX's to that dealer.

What I am confused about is that AZBOX Canada (not affiliated with AZBOX in any way) claims to sell real Premium Pluses but they were out of them for sale last year on their site.  Being that Opensat was out of them at the time and no more Premium Pluses were manufactured one would assume that the official Premium Pluses could not be bought from Opensat.  Miraculously AZBOX Canada (not affiliated with AZBOX in any way) some time later got another shipment from somewhere and they were again available for sale at their site.  If you were to use their deductive reasoning one would have to assume that they were the one selling the clones.

The last official AZBOX firmware from Opensat was 5311 that had the Youtube fix.  After you load the official 5311 firmware it will say that its 5308 in the menu but this is just an oversight with them forgetting to update the version in the menus display.  Shortly later the unofficial version 5402 shows up on that same unofficial AZBOX site claiming their fixing of Youtube.  So to answer your question 5402 in NOT official firmware and many have reported that it is full of bugs so I highly suggest you stay away from it.

Here is a link to where the Opensat's 5311 can be downloaded:  http://www.mediafire.com/?yez19c9034y5vqv

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up Emil. I haven't been reading this section for quite some time. Everything had been working good so it was kind of out of sight, out of mind. I'm real glad I didn't try to install that 5402 yet. I just deleted it and downloaded the 5311 from your link.

Should I do that format application area thing? I've forgotten this stuff.

another site  member/owner? bought a clone direct from china. the sole purpose of doing so was to put to rest what was clone and what wasn't. He has defended rick and others and got his proof at his  own personal expense. The pictures posted and his comments left no and I mean no doubt that the clones from china were nothing like the pictures being pawned off as true azboxes being clones. It is evident in a minute to even a novice that it is a clone. I will not post the address without Rick's permission. But as we all knew...Rick was right on and completely supported by HARD evidence. Congratulations Rick and I hope any possible legal action will be just as successful. It is a true shame that someone would say the things said about an upstanding businessman and person like Rick.

Hi Mountaineer,

Yes, we were aware of the Clones coming out of China and the review that has been done over at Legal Free To Air Forum.  The differences are quite evident.

Even with all of the proof that has been provided and the many lies that Serge, aka AZBox Canada, aka pwrsurge, aka Dr. Sat and whatever else he wants to go by, continues to tell people that the Dealer in Canada, World Wide Satellite, that was sent to me by Opensat when they were still in business, is selling clones.

We have proven to World Wide Satellites customers that have asked, that the receivers they sell, are indeed original made in Korea / Opensat receivers and they have been quite satisfied and upset with the allegations brought forth by Serge.

As many of you have already seen, in honor of all of these false allegations, we are having a "We Don't Sell No Stinking Clones, AZ Box Premium Plus Sale!"  $299.00 including shipping in the US.  http://rickssatelliteusa.com/azboxpremiumplushd.htm

This includes World Wide Satellite in Canada and Hypermegasat here in the US.

All of this attention caused by Serge has actually done nothing but brought us more business.

Thanks for your support.

Rick
