getting there, looks like some of the beginning gets truncated, and the end doesn't seem to
terminate properly. Ends up in some sort of loop, creating more tree branches of empty
long channel name? Same on each station that has the A0 descriptor.

Edit: There's around 65 empty tree branches in total if that means anything to ya?
Edit2: Apparently that's not consistent, as another channel had ~ 70 sumthing.

No more looping tree branches, but no branch with text either.

BTW, just curious if there's a CBC station near you or not?
Which market is closest to you??

I really have to write a new app/driver to work as a loopback so I can pump data into the kernel and have it show as a fake dvb card. Just not a simple task, but man it would be handy, esp for cases like this, or those odd ball feeds you find and you want to analyse but at a later date.

I hear ya, gotta be frustrating trying to isolate something from .ts files...
I'm kinda surprised Edmonton isn't almost identical to TO.
Do they have an epg implemented there in Edm??
BTW, have a sister who raised most of her kids there before they packed up and moved to Vancouver.

How many channels you get where you are? I get 6 here, pretty good considering its free.

I do get the EIT sent, but I havent added parsing for it yet, same with DVB or DGII

Between Buffalo and Toronto markets I get all of Buffalo, and all but 3 Toronto Frequencies regularly. 2 from Hamilton, a repeater of Barrie, ON, and a station from Batavia, the ION mux (to the east). When tropo hits, can get crazy with signals coming in from the west unobstructed over the lakes, etc..

Go here, http://www.rabbitears.info/
click on Tools, TV Query, enter the Market name, say Buffalo, NY, Toronto, ON or Edmonton, AB
you'll get a nice rundown.

You can even get TsReader HTML exports from any market there also if ur ever curious how something looks when it gets parsed in TsReader without actually having the signal available. Might be handy. For TsReader exports, once ya get a market's results,
click on Main Listing, then Technical data and Screen Captures, for a station of interest. If any available u'll see it under a TsReader Link. You can also see Longley-Rice coverage plots & contours for every station. If ya see anything out of date, drop a message to Trip
another forum member here. I'm sure if somethin was old or outdated in regard to the TsReader exports for Edmonton, he'd happily accept updated ones.

example how may freqs comin in right now

Not all of those will come in, little exaggerated with the hauppauge tuner,
Probably scans in about 32 watchable channels at any given time. And 8 of those are a christian mux repeated. Still nice, as you say for free.

No doubt a keeper..
swung the rotor toward Batavia to see what the ION station was doing.
Check this out... May be doing huffman encoding on the long channel name of the first subchannel, but not on the other three...nothin like makin people pull their hair out needlessly.. Like what could they possibly save by compressing one of them.. a byte or two???

It is just most important to share the find.
