OK here's an example of one of two fields, most stations probably send this one..
Extended Channel Name: CBLT-DT Toronto HD
CBLT example

While some stations may or may not have some meaningful text after this TSID
TSID: 2131 (0x0853) NTSC: 04 ATSC: 39 NY BUFFALO
WIVB example

yes, chch works now..
I removed the comment that I had added in dvbtune.cpp, so works as is now.
thanks man..

channel_TSID — A 16-bit unsigned integer field, not sure where its pulling the name from

0xA0 is the extended channel name field, but I dont see that descriptor in the screencap you posted.

almost... all the stations that use it, display a single letter,  'e'
I know cblt should be parsing it as CBLT-DT Toronto HD
and the wivb example, uses it too, but the long name in that one should be the same as it's short name
(as per TsReader's parsing of it). see attached pic from cblt.

Is the Extended Channel Name descriptor showing anything ? I added it to updateDVB, didnt test but even if the code was wrong it should show something, just garbled maybe. Im still looking into it

yes, if ya look at the screenshot in my post#51, it's from CBLT.
You can see the letter 'e', which I assume it's getting truncated from the word 'eng' that ya can see in my hex dump screenshots in Post  #52.
That's what I meant by "almost" in post 51, because every station that carries the A0 descriptor also has that same letter 'e' in updatedvb parse and the word 'eng' preceding the actual Long Channel Name in their .ts Dumps.
Like maybe the length & starting position of the Text needs some adjustment?

I read to quickly and didnt read the fine print

extended_channel_name_descriptor() {
descriptor_tag 8 0xA0
descriptor_length 8 uimsbf
long_channel_name_text() var
}

long_channel_name_text is actually a Multiple String Structure.

multiple_string_structure() {
number_strings 8 uimsbf
for (i=0; i< number_strings; i++) {
ISO_639_language_code 24 uimsbf
number_segments 8 uimsbf
for (j=0; j< number_segments; j++) {
compression_type 8 uimsbf
mode 8 uimsbf
number_bytes 8 uimsbf
for (k=0; k< number_bytes; k++)
compressed_string_byte [k] 8 bslbf
}
}
}

much more complicated. ok update your repo and hopefully it works. The ts you sent me the string was in plain text but the spec does allow for huffman encoding, which I havent implemented yet.

Roger that will do, yeah I saw that multi string thing also (referrs ya  to sec 6.10)... I only know of one station around here that implemented huffman encoding, and it's essentially the Ion Mux. And even then only in their ETT/EIT, program info.
