Wondering if anyone is using this high level V-Box replacement? How well does it work?

Hmm odd. Different strokes different folks I guess. I have one and it's incredible. Very well built, exceptional support. I just use cat5 for my sensors and an extension cord for power and its been working incredibly well. I'm extremely pleased with mine and highly recommend it.

I was wondering if there is a commercial device that will let the AZBox change the polarity of Corotor feeds. Then I came across this ASCI which, according to their web site, works great.
Sorry for the trouble!

this is what I use to move the polarotor feedhorn's polarity.

so that homemade circuit plus a vbox is my solution.

I remember at one point in time a number of people complained that these were missing pulses and they were having to reset saved satellite positions on a daily basis.  I gather they must have finally come up with a solution for this problem.  True?

Is this device connected to the V-Box or the receiver in ordre to switch polarity? I admit that I know close to nothing about those devices.

Thanks

This is for those who want to move their dish and control the polarity using a feed horn/lnb's and a polorotor.  Looks like you have a c/ku lnbf which controls the polarity differently.  Do you want to change your setup to feedhorn/lnb's/polorotor, or do you want to just use the ASC1 just to move the dish?  If so you don't need the V box at all.  Jess out in California

I have an order of the V-Box II on the ocean right now.  Hope to have it by the first of August.

I am also getting another order of the APC1 Servo controller.  Hope I have them around the first of August as well.

Both of these can be hooked up to a FTA Receiver and they can run off of the DiSEqC 1.2 Motor Commands and the 13/18VDC polarity commands.  It is a bit inconvient in that you have to have 3 units to make it run the actuator and the servo motor, but if you don't go with the ASC 1, it is an option.

Here is a link to the APC1 Servo controller:

First, I understand the question about using a lnbf or a Corotor. My dish is currently equipped with a LNBF and I am using a V-Box to move the dish. But since I have four C KU corotors complete with lnbs sitting in my basement, I am thinking of using one of them because it seems that a Corotor LNB combination gives better performance. If I were to buy an ASCI it would obviously be in order to move the dish and switch polarity. Should I stick to my LNBF and V-Box or...?

Thanks

If you want better performance than an LNBF I'd suggest a bulls eye or dual LNB feed horn.  My LNBF performs better than my servo feed ever did.  None of the problems changing polarity at minus 40 like the servo always had.

I would go with Rick's solution in Post #9.
It is the most cost effective solution, making do with what you have now...
You already have a vbox, so put an order in for one of Rick's APC1 Servo Controller units to allow it
to control the servo motor in the polarotor.

On any of my dishes that I have used, I always got better performance a Co-Rotor II C/Ku feed horn with Norsat LNB's, than with any LNBF I have ever tried.

Get better performance yet on my Bulls Eye feed horn with 4 LNB's, but that is big money.  A Dual C with 2 C-Band LNB's is next best, but no Ku then if you only have one dish.

I wish a company like Norsat made LNBF's with the same quality they put into their LNB's.

I've owned a vbox-x and a vbox 7 and they both are garbage they lose positions and sometimes have to reset them to get them to work. I'm getting an ASC-1 because everyone has raved about how good they are, plus I can put up a polorotor with norsats that I got with my last dish instead of an LNBF. With other solutions, you need a power inserter, an actuator controller and a servo controller. With the ASC-1 all these functions are combined into one box. I wonder if the vbox-II that rick is ordering are any better than the 7 and X. I've also heard good things about the g.box, but never have been able to find them in stock anywhere.
