Daz I know it was 3 and I think I tried 4 as well. But 2 seems to be the charm...makes them all work like clock work!

FWIW to the uninitiated, EXT2 and EXT3 share the same driver; the only material difference between them is EXT3 adds journaling. Translated, that means EXT3 (and EXT4) increase I/O overhead. EXT4 adds other advancements and requires a different driver. In recent years the EXT2/EXT3 driver has been deprecated. Its job has been superceded in all current Linux for PC distros by the EXT4 driver. As the AZBox kernels have the storage driver(s) compiled directly into the kernel, /boot is empty, and there is no /proc/config.gz, I don't know how to tell any details about what is compiled into its running kernel.

OT: MC 4.8.15 here in whatever openATV 5.3 version I installed 28 Dec. gives this: "Warning: cannot open /usr/libexec/mc/extfs.d directory". On checking I see no such directory exists.

That i/o overhead shouldn't be bringing down the recording tho. The old hd boxes were extremely dodgy as they wouldn't even boot if DOM was ext3 formatted. The ME shouldn't have been so had in handling ext3. But if it works now presto. Best possible result.

You have to load the configs module first before it will show up in /proc

# Look for configs.ko or configs.ko.gz module here:

[ray@arch ~]$ ls /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/kernel
configs.ko.gz

# If the module exists run this command:

sudo modprobe configs

# Then look in /proc for config.gz after running the command sucessfully and make sure it is there.

# Next

zcat /proc/config.gz > config

Then open up config with an editor to see what is there.

# Commands to check file system types:

[ray@arch ~]$ sudo blkid -o list
[sudo] password for ray:
device     fs_type label    mount point    UUID
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/dev/sda1  ext4    ARCH     /              b5340247-227d-4376-9a75-f402e53b93c9

[ray@arch ~]$ lsblk --output MOUNTPOINT,LABEL,FSTYPE
MOUNTPOINT LABEL       FSTYPE

/          ARCH        ext4

The mount command will also show the file system type.

Let me know how it works for you rempfer!

Code:  umount /dev/sda1 (put in your own HDD location)

Format the unit in Ext2 through linux.

Code: mkfs.ext2 /dev/sda1 (ext2 worked on minime also need to put location in this case it is sda1)

Mount the usb/hdd.

(I did not useany of the below this, I just went in to recording paths and selected where it was...sda1...up to you)

Code: mount /dev/sda1 /media/usb

Create a folder called Movie for the recordings.

Code: mkdir /media/usb/movie

Chmod to 777 for the recordings ,etc.

Code: chmod 777 /media/usb/movie

This worked fine.  Now I have saved and reloaded my Me's channel list so many times that I've managed to lose the CBS HD channels (that won't scan in), so I haven't been able to test a 4:2:2 recording yet.  Would anyone have a saved Me channel list that has these, that I could get a copy of?  Thanks everyone.

When this question is asked of an ME, what is meant? /etc/enigma2/lamedb?

This is from /etc/enigma2/userbouquet.favorites.tv for CBS east and west on 97W 4080V:
#SERVICE 1:0:1:1:0:0:A288FF0:0:0:0:
#SERVICE 1:0:1:2:0:0:A288FF0:0:0:0:

1:0:1:1:0:0:A288FF0:0:0:0: is what displays in the service information menu for "Service reference" for east.

Code:
# blkid -o list
device                 fs_type    label       mount point                UUID
/dev/sda1              ext3       wd20azbme2t /media/hdd                 f6c1d5e1...

I think it is lamedb.  As far as I can tell it isn't a very big file.  Could someone rename and send it to me in a PM, perhaps?  I'd appreciate it!

I will do this and then try recording 4:2:2 CBS HD to my freshly EXT2-formatted SSD. Thanks, mountaineer! Away from home for a bit just now, so will have to wait.

Mountaineer - Sorry, I didn't realize this post was referring to the Mini. Last summer I was going to buy a Mini but the seller would never answer my e-mails. It all worked out though since about a month later I found 2 NIB Me's that ended up costing less than the one mini. As much as mine was getting used I was worried about wearing it out.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
