It's been a long time since I gave up recording CBS with any STB, but IIRC, the recording of CBS wasn't the problem, but the playback. You might want to try playing back that CBS recording on a PC with smplayer, vlc or kodi to find out. Done that way, even a recording made with a Manhattan or Linkbox might work.

Thank you babadem,

Did you use a dummy channel on 4080  to tune to after starting the recording?  Is yours an internal or external drive?  Mine is internal sata 160 GB...fairlly old. Thank you for trying!!!!

Jdcpa ... I have never had a problem playing back what was recorded using easy media player...it has been the recordings themselves. Have you tried easy  media? It may work for you.

Everyone...
I loaded the old OPENAZBOX image with 3.3.1 kernel onto my minime....and it recorded and played back CBS perfectly....no dummy channel in fact when I tuned the dummy channel it stopped the recording. It even streamed well to my WDTV live and to my AZME. I will load that MINIME image to my google drive this evening. Obviously it is an external drive. But I was shocked it worked so well.

Yes, I tuned to the dummy channel after I started recording. I use a 2TB external USB drive.
If I coud get the Elbandido BlindScan-NA to work on 3.3.1, I would switch back kernel 3.3.1.

OPENAZ    MINIME 3.3.1  Kernel   seems to record CBS Fine.

USE RED REMOTE BUTTON TO INSTANT RECORD  .....RECORD BUTTON PUTS ON RADIO MODE AND HAVE TO PRESS STOP TO GO BACK TO TV

Also if timer doesnt work ... try instant record and set minutes.

Is this in reference to kernel 3.3.1 or OpenATV 5.3?

Maybe I forgot to mention it. All my recording tests were done using instant recording.

ALright I think I may have found something....I went back and tried to record with the 3.3.1 kernel again on the MINIME...and ran into the exact same stuff babadem ran into ...stopping recording after 1minute at the most etc etc etc.  . I got really pissed...because the dang box was making a fool and liar out of me. SO I tried to duplicate exactly what I did on sunday to record the masters for one hour perfectly. I tuned 4080 V SID 1 on G19 started a manual recording and wham 39 seconds later it stopped. I then remembered that I had done the same thing for the masters...BUT had quickly tuned the dummy channel and the recording had stopped...so I changed quickly back to sid 1 and the recording began again and lasted the whole hour. So I tried that again just now and wham recorded 20 + minutes and I stopped it..playback was great except at the beginning when I had changed to the dummy channel and then back.

SO what was the difference that if I tuned the dummy channel and then back it would record all I wanted it to???????? I then remembered that the CBS doesnt have an SDT on it...and wont scan in on kernel 3.92. I also remembered that on the dummy channel I had put in fake pids with an sid of 0...AND I HAD ALSO CHECKED THE BOX THAT SAYS DO NOT UPDATE CH NO SDT in dreambox edit. Ahhh it made sense now. It wasnt that the box or HDD couldnt handle the bitrate or anything...the recorder was looking for SDT when it found none it shut off the recording ...IMHO...
I also checked the USE SIDS button in DREAMBOX EDIT for that 4080 V  DUmmy channel.
SO I will continue to test and check. I think it is in the SDT or lack there of.....Getting closer i think.

If someone is willing to....please use whatever image you have on you box....AZMINIME  is what I have been testing but may work on AZME.

Download and use DREAMEDIT ch editor ONLY. Go to G 19 Cbs on 4080 V 29860 SID 1.  Double click the channel and the editing window will open.

Scroll down to PIDS and you will see CAID pids....there is probably a number in there say 2600 or something. Delete the number and have it be empty. PLEASE DO NOT ENTER 0 BUT JUST DELETE THE NUMBER THERE AND MAKE IT BLANK.

Do the same for SID 2. Other than that make no changes to anything. Save and send the changes to your box and reboot.

Let box boot normally and acquire time. maybe tune a couple of other channels. Then tune CBS Sid 1 that we changed and do a manual recording for a decent time period. See if it works.  If it does the entire recording and playback fine...try a timer recording. If that works fine then try to do the same when 4100 H has programming on it.... it has not been altered only 4080 has...or you could go to G28 and use CBS there it has not been altered.See if it cuts off early or short.

I think it may be the CAID pids. Most other channels do not have them. I mentioned in above post that Dummy channel had NOSDT checked and that may have been the problem (But it was not ) ...but it also didnt have the CAID....which may be the real problem.

Right now I altered it on the 3.3.1 Kernel AZMINIME OPENAZBOX image. After this alteration CBS recorded manually and played back fine with no dummy channel channel changing..... I also set up a timer recording and put the box on G19 KU and the box changed sats , tuned CBS, and recorded with no problems. The manual timer was for 45 minutes and it worked great the timer is for 1 hour and it is at 35 minutes now with no problems. I will continue to test.

Someone pleas tell me what the CAID pids is... is it for Scrambled information? Seems I only see it on scrambled channels info.?.?

Do you mean DreamBox Edit or Dreamset? I don't see a "CAID" option. Could you post screen grab of your settings?

Edit: I now see the "CAID pids" option in "Dreamset", but it's default is blank. So why am i not able to record successfully?

babadem...try ticking/checking the NO SDT button. Also make sure the USE PIDS is unchecked.
It is still hit and miss but I am getting it to record on my system atleast 35-40 mins each time now, sometimes the full hour.
Just trying the different options to get it to be completely consistent.
I wont be back home until Sunday/monday to experiment more.

I wonder if my info was kept over from Football season when they (CBS) were $ during games?

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
