I have one pc using windows 7  that is 64 bit and downloaded the complete toolbox azbox hd program.
this is one program that has several inside it just for the azbox.
A on search on this forum will give you some download links to get the program. It was too large for me to upload it to my site however.

This is the first time i have heard anyone having a problem using ACC so I suggest trying the toolbox program to see if that works for your system.

I am glad you managed to get the list up and running.

Good day Everyone:
I have been reading and re-reading the posts and program links listed...Thank-you.  If I could only understand most of it...
1.  Do I need to have a hard-wired internet connection hooked directly to the Az Box???  I currently do not...
2.  I know I need the ACC Program and maybe Maz too, do those go directly into the AZ or can they go to the computer and then be transferred over to the AZ??? Putting in the N. American Birds directly is very appealing.  My available Arc is 72* - 135*, maybe.  That is about my limit.....
3.  My usage of the unit will be limited to watching the E. Coast HD Network Feeds of CBS, ABC, NBC, CW, ION, PBS, P. Rico Fox, unless someone  finds a better one, Wyoming NBC??, Nasa, Pentagon, maybe a few more.  I want to program them in consecutively, again, , move the GI to the Correct Sat. and Ch., and click on the AZ corresponding Ch.   IE CBS on G28, Ch. 1-2, ABC on G3, Ch. 3-5 etc.  In addition I'd like to explore some Sun. AM CBS  NFL Feeds on a Sunday when the Steelers are playing late or on Monday.  Looking forward to those CBS High bit- rate 1080i HD Feeds...An occasional Pitt game on Saturday, maybe...That's about it.  Plug and play, why not, it DID work well for a while that way....I appreciate all of the info and posts...Thanx again!!

Vendig I appreciate the detailed explanations you provide.  They are very helpful.  I am still unclear on the need for MAZ manager.

Here is my scenario.  I updated the firmware and then I used ACC to load one of your SAT lists into the AZ box.  Actually the Diseq settings were OK for my system as is.  If I do change any settings (by hand on the AZ box itself) why can't I just ACC to load the modified list to my PC to have a permanent modified list?  Why do I need MAZ manager?

Paul,
I have no idea which lists the ACC would send to your azbox since I have never used that feature.  I use Maz Manager to download the lists to my pc and Maz is certainly one of the better editor programs to make timer recordings with or to make changes on channel names and pid information with very little effort on your part.
Then after any changes are made use the ACC program to resend the file back to the azbox receiver.
If it is followed in this manner and there is a problem then help is much easier then if everyone decides to do things differently and then each one finds out there is a different set of problems for each of them.

Since I bought my first azbox I have spent countless hours doing research and testing different things out. I have in no way done everything or tested each program to it's fullest potential that works in conjunction with the AZbox. The research was done to help others out so they / you can get back up and running with the least amount of hassel.
If you wanted to try using the ACC program to do what you need and it works then great you can do that, however, if you find that in doing what was not disussed or talked about and you end up having a problem there may be no one to help you out of the situation you got yourself into.
So all I am trying to do is to keep you from futhur problems so you can get back to enjoying FTA with your Azbox.

That works fine for me PaulPerrone.I do that also here for basic editing with the remote.Diseqc settings, adding TP,s etc. What I do is just create a folder on my desktop and call it AZ Ch`s and each and everytime I do any basic editing as described I just create another folder with the current date and use ACC to grab the new info from the AZ and put in that folder.

I use MAZ for more detailed editing. And ACC to shoot it back to the AZ.

I have to agree with Vendig and Hockeynut.  Grab the allchannel.dat from the AzBox using MAZ .  Edit with MAZ (I tried AzBox Editor but that didn't work as well).  Send it back to the AzBox using ACC.  I also save each file in a separate folder with its date in order to have a good recovery point. I must have read those manuals and the Qs and As at least three times but it finally sunk in.  Thanks guys for all the hard work you must have put in  This is the best place to get info.  I haven't change from the 5020 FW but one of these days upload it using the stick.

I have a question for the Techs and Computer guys here.  What is the advantage of having a list of names in
the Sat. Registry ?  Since they are all C or Ku and the only
difference is the polarity between birds why does one need
this list ?  I have a Sports Bar using this unit with only 2
entries in the Sat. List.  It has been working fine.  All of
the Circular Polarity birds in North America are encrypted.
I realize that each individual bird has a list of recent
frequencies and symbol rates but since you are always
customizing it and Blind Searching why would you need
a huge list ?   Just curious ...

I am not sure that I understand exactly what you are asking but I guess to sum up there are two different types of users.
One that scans day to day for the true wildfeeds mostly sports and at the end of a given day or week cleans up the list and starts over. Doing this one can set up a C band and a Ku band sat and that's it.
Then there are those that want a complete or semi complete list of all the open channels on every sat out there. Doing this on one C band or Ku band sat would be confusing.  Keeping an orderly list of each satellite with its available  channels makes it easy to quickly locate the correct sat to tune. Also it allows for "favorite" folders to be set up to further simplify choosing a program. Favorite folders like "Family" "Sports" "PBS" "Networks"  "HD Channels" etc can be setup with corresponding channels stored in them. So if a family member wants to watch a PBS station for instance they can open the "PBS" favorite folder and find all the PBS stations out there on AMC21 G 28 AMC1 etc.

Then there's "secret option number 3". That's the user that is a hybrid of the first two. A user that (like group 2) has a complete list of all birds & a channel list of all the 24/7 ITC stuff. Then, (like group 1) that same user has one each generic satelittes set up for C & Ku.

I've found that having seperate C & Ku birds for blindscanning helps keep the list cleaner. Plus, most of the time I'm just using the stb to find TPs for the HTPC.

Cheers

Well I guess I'm an option 4 user.  All I'm interested is the previously found E. Coast HD Feeds on the Networks, PBS, Ion, Pentagon, Nasa and I'm sure  a few more.  Line them up on the AZ, Ch. 1-15 or so, use my GI to move the Dish starting with G 28 and go to G3 etc.  Watch a few Pre-season NFL games, and going to try to watch a few Hi-bit rate CBS HD feeds on Sunday as my team plays the night game.  That's it, that's my expectation...Period...
Never have blind scanned or anything else, so how did my receiver which started out working fine that way become "corrupted"???  Now my AZ Ultra works OK about every 3rd day, and is driving me crazy,  I'll know in about 30 minutes if she is "feeling good"  Looking for 1 CBS show, 1 on Fox and 1 on CW tonight....Maybe Futebolero's idea would work well for me????  Appreciate all of the feed-back....

Any plans to enable FOSS-only users to do the things discussed in this thread? Wine apps I've tried don't work for me. They have the same problems as Windows, which is they're designed to behave properly only on low resolution systems and/or for people with excellent vision. With worse than average vision and/or high resolution, either everything's too small, or layout is screwed up, often resulting in missing text or worse.

Also, https://sites.google.com/site/azboxtools/azbox-editor-tools-programs makes it impossible (AFAICT) to use a download program like wget or curl to fetch the software there. They attempt to incorporate redirect URLs into illegal filenames, so fail with "cannot write" messages.

That plus sheer determination to get rid of those Eastern Satellites which I never did like for a variety of reasons.
I do believe the help on this board is far superior to the other places out there with so many willing to help out one another.

As for the Az Users Guide that was gleaned from so many different people and places and put together to have it all in one place to make it easier for the users of the AzBox.

I do believe there is a fear factor that hinders some from performing certain tasks with their AzBox, however, if one just follows the directions put down in simple terms I believe anyone would be able to do what needs to be done as long as they do not rush things and take it slow.

On this forum all one needs to do is a search on the names of Chris or Vendig to find a wealth of information that has been posted on the Azbox.

To those who had sent e-mail's or pm's that were not answered I just do not have the time currently to do so with all that is going on here. I also do not want to run the risk of getting burned out from it all either.

for anyone who has a corrupted sat/channel list this is the thread they should be directed to for help as even those who know nothing about computers should be able to handle this process. I hate to see others having a difficult time of things when in reality they do not have to suffer through that with all that is known about this receiver.
Once one overcomes the initial fear factor it really is quite simple.

vendig: is there way to get or create a channel list with no TP'S
for the AZbox premium plus?

Thanks
Tim

Tim,
You must have at least 1 TP on each satellite or the Azbox may see the list as corrupted.
You can put in a fake TP for each satellite then delete it later on after you add the real ones.

What I reallly wanted to do is have one working tp on each sat. to tune sat and blind scanning because with the locking system it trys to lock all excisting tp's when I only want to lock new ones only, so by having only one tp per sat, this is posibble, and when you power down the AZbox and reboot the list is back to one tp per sat again. This seems like it would make bscan easier and faster. I use my AZbox for S2 and 4:22only, most of the time.

Thanks for looking and responding to my post. This is just an idea.
