Recently there seem to be more Azbox users who are not adept at using their computers so this should be a help to them.

For those who are either new or do not understand how to use their AzBox with the editor programs here is a link to a pdf  file that will explain things in very simple terms, with photo's included to help even the newest person who has never touched this receiver before.
This should help those who have recently been frustrated with their receivers due to a corrupt list in their box.

(web site removed since it has been changed and if you need it and you bought your AZ receiver from "Rick" you can contact Rick and he will direct you to where you can still obtain the file.)

The file is named: AzBox Control Center.pdf
The ACC program is the only program I know of that will send a sat/channel list to your azbox and place it in both the main and backup directories at the same time with the click of a button.
It is a very easy program that even my 100 year old Aunt could do it.

The ACC program is also at the same location in both a zip file and a rar file.
Download the zip file to your computer and then unzip the folder.
once you unzip the folder click on the setup.exe file. It will self load onto your computer.

If you have a corrupt satellite/channel list or people told you it was a great possibility the problems you are having with losing sats/channels or not being able to see them properly and your equipment was ruled out as the cause you could be having a problem with the list being corrupt. Especially with anyone using a firmware earlier then the 0.9.5308 firmware.
This was due to a corrupt satellite in the list.
The only way to get around it was to either update to firmware 0.9.5308 or to use the ACC program to install a new uncorrupted sat/channel list.
I have also uploaded to the site above in a different directory 2-3 satellite/channel list in a zipped folder which you can also download to your computer and after unzipping it use the ACC program to send the file to your azbox.
So one does not need to update to the newer firmware if they did not want to.
Those channel lists I have placed up there are North Americanized satellite/channel lists which do not contain any Eastern satellites and will work with any firmware on the azbox.
These lists have been used by several others and have been working fine for them.
I use them in 4 azbox's here on a daily basis.

I just wanted to chime in that if you are having trouble with your AZbox, listen and make use of Vendigs advice. The original sat list that comes with the box prior to firmware 5308 was corrupt, and fixing the list manually did not help me at all  until I also replaced the backup list. The ACC program is the easiest way to do that for those that are not familiar with telnet and ftp.

Vendig has spent many hours compiling useful information and programs all in one place. Make use of his site if you haven't already. His NA sat list is also a "must have" if you are in need of a good clean list with channels already preloaded. That alone saved me many tedious hours of manual entry or painfully slow blind scans.

Thanks for all your hard work on the AZbox Vendig. Many of us appreciate it greatly!

Vendig walked me through fixing a corrupt channel list. If you look at post #28 under receiver discussions and then under Azbox channel list, you will see how he walked me through the procedure to repair it. He is the man!

You all keep thanking me but in reality if it was not for people like Chris who was able to put things into proper perspective and telling me things in non-technical terms I would never had figured out what I know so far.
That plus sheer determination to get rid of those Eastern Satellites which I never did like for a variety of reasons.
I do believe the help on this board is far superior to the other places out there with so many willing to help out one another.

As for the Az Users Guide that was gleaned from so many different people and places and put together to have it all in one place to make it easier for the users of the AzBox.

I do believe there is a fear factor that hinders some from performing certain tasks with their AzBox, however, if one just follows the directions put down in simple terms I believe anyone would be able to do what needs to be done as long as they do not rush things and take it slow.

On this forum all one needs to do is a search on the names of Chris or Vendig to find a wealth of information that has been posted on the Azbox.

To those who had sent e-mail's or pm's that were not answered I just do not have the time currently to do so with all that is going on here. I also do not want to run the risk of getting burned out from it all either.

for anyone who has a corrupted sat/channel list this is the thread they should be directed to for help as even those who know nothing about computers should be able to handle this process. I hate to see others having a difficult time of things when in reality they do not have to suffer through that with all that is known about this receiver.
Once one overcomes the initial fear factor it really is quite simple.

Vendig, Thank you for the kind words, but the fact is that without your efforts in testing and compiling all of this information many members here would still be in the dark. I have no clue of how you manage the time that is involved in what you have done. I enjoy this hobby as yourself but can not seem to find the time to devote to it as I would like.

I can see that by sharing the information as we (all members) have done is an immense benefit to everyone. It starts small and builds as now there  are other members that have also become very good with the AZ and jump right in to help, kind of like a snowball rolling down a hill. We have taken a box not really intended for our market and turned it in to one of the best units out there for our needs.

Lets not forget Rick. He has created a place , a forum, where all members treat all other with respect and courtesy which only enhances the learning experience.

The ACC program can also be used to change a channel on your recevier and show you different screen shots of what is currently playing right on your pc.
To do this you click on Mini RC then use the gray remote on the bottom left of the screen. also clicking on the connect button next to the gray remote and then clicking on GET SCR SD or HD will allow the picture to appear as it does in this picutre of the soccer match.

The up and down arrow keys will change the channels as per what is in your recevier. The left and right arrows will also do the same as if you press the ok button on your remote and use the arrow keys to go to specific channels.

Of course you need to make sure your connection is set properly as explained in the first post here.

Installed your dat files  into my AZbox Ultra after the latest firmware file update.

Did a complete factory update

Used Filezilla to send  your files to the Azbox. ACC 1.1 would not do it.

Need to change the backup file in AZBOX but cannot make DISK1 writable.

Azbox Editor ver. 9.2880a would not save changes.

Are the programs Windows 7 compatible?

using any other method then what was explained will not get you the results needed.
The ACC is the only program that will perform the task properly.
No one who has set up the ACC properly has ever said it would not do it properly.
Recheck your connection.

Read this thread all the way through if you still do not understand how to use the ACC program.  Chris explains it very clearly here.

http://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=4915448

even more info here:

http://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=5158559&trail=30

I am not getting into using any other programs besides the ACC program in this thread.

If you use another type of program I am afraid your on your own since it has not been discussed here and your doing things not mentioned.

Thanks for your help.

I am using 0.9.5308 firmware.

After I send your 7.7.11 sat list files with ACC The All_channel & DVBS dat files are 0 bytes in Azbox. The Antenna_list.dat is okay.

What could cause this?

You are not giving enough information as to what you did for anyone to give a reasonable response.

When you downloaded the zipped file to your pc, did you unzip the folder into a separate/new directory onto your computer?

Sometimes even I think it is a given procedure that whenever you work with files from these receivers they need to be in a clean directory with only the files that belong there for the particular issue you are dealing with.

What am I talking about? Create a new directory name it (111) in your pc.

Download the zipped folder again from the website.

Unzip the folder so that all 3 files go into the new directory named 111.

Now open ACC and click on Tools-2 then  send to Azbox.

When the pop up box shows on your pc find the directory 111 then highlight the file

all_channel.dat  and double click on it.

The file should go to your Azbox and the receiver will reboot.

Once the receiver reboots, go into the receiver and reset your antenna setup so your DiSEqC settings match your setup.

Now if you are following these directions EXACTLY as they are written hereā€¦.

Go and change all the satellite antenna setups to match your system now.

After you do this for each satellite you use, then go and check out satellite Galaxy 16 horizontal polarity find in Azbox by pressing OK  until your channel menu comes up then press the exit button so that the top of that menu you can now change between satellites instead of the default of ALL. Find G-16 H and then highlight WPRU and press enter. You should now have programming if you are on Galaxy 16 at 99.0W H polarity.

OK, now you have setup every satellite on your system and the receiver sees the channel lists and you can watch programming, now use Maz Manager program, and after you set up the Maz Manager program  go back to your pc and create a brand new directory, using the date really works nice if you want to keep it that way.

Then after you have created a new directory download your channel list in Maz and save it to your pc in the brand new directory you just created.

After you do this then once more, use the ACC program to send that list you just downloaded with maz back to your receiver with the ACC.

WHY? you made changes to all your DiSEqC settings and now you just put all those changes into both your main directory and backup as well so you should never have to make those changes ever again!

Secondly, once your receiver reboots it should reboot up on Galaxy 16 on your Azbox, at an area you know you had received a good signal before.

If you follow these directions exactly as laid out and do not try going your own way and making a shortcut or doing things differently in any way you should be fine and have no problem.  This is the way others have done it before you and the file is the same that is up on my site as it was when others downloaded it.

I know since I checked it today.

The reason I am putting it down this way is I have no idea if after you downloaded the zipped file you opened one of them under another program or not or maybe you had an incomplete download. There could be many reasons but you did mention trying another program earlier when it was not mentioned, so I figured I would spell it out precisely asd it should be done and in that order.

Print this out and take your time. Even after all the times I have created new lists and used these different programs to use with the Azbox I still take my time so a finger does not slip on some key someplace.

I hope this helps.

Edited to add...

Make sure your computer did not change the attributes of your files to read only!

Thanks for your help. It is appreciated.

I did follow your advice but could not get ACC to send the files intact to the Azbox.

The files you supplied are excellent. I opened the files in AZbox editor and input my switch and motor settings. Then used Filezilla to send the files to Azbox.

I also updated the Azbox DVBS backup file.

All is working perfectly.

Perhaps Windows 64 had something to do with it.

Thanks again.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
