Jeff S. sent me a replacement RS-1933 unit so I could troubleshoot my DiSEqC 1.0, etc. issues. It came with the 2.6 firmware. Same problems as I had with the previous unit and his tweaked 3.9 firmware (as of 12/27/11).

He wrote that they're making changes to the 3.9 code and expect an update soon. Also, they're working on a 4.0 that will accommodate individual sats for the more advanced DiSEqC switches.

Wanted to let the forum know the status. I'll post any signif advances. He's being quite forthcoming in addressing my concerns.

That is good to hear. It was starting to get a little quiet on the Manhattan front.

I just got the Manhattan a few days ago. Rick had first sold me an S-10 that constantly crashed and rebooted, no matter what firmware I used, So he let me trade up to the Manhattan for a good deal, because of  s-10 grief. Thanks to Rick for standing behind his products.

The menu system sure has a lot of the same processes as the S-10, but if it's made by the same Chinese company, who knows?

The auto scan works well, and I have a whole lot of S2 stations now. No crashing. No rebooting.  What a relief!

If I have an issue, it's what happens when I change channels - I blinks weird and makes about the loudest click I have ever heard a receiver make.  On one post a guy said to take the resolution off Auto and set it to a resolution. Did that but that  did not stop the clicks.  I swear, they are so loud  I almost expect the receiver to be doing a dance.

The other thing is, when you bring up the screen that shows the modulation and resolution, a lot of stations don't put a number on it, but say like NTSC or some other initials. I can't remember, but it isn't like  "720p"

But the picture is good.  and I have a lot more true FTA choices than I ever had.  Overall, a little quirky but looks good with my system

Do you know what firmware ver you have.
I have my Manhattan at ver 3.4, works fine there.
They have ver 3.9 out with some minor problems fixed.
After you get your box tweaked in I think you will like it even more.

As Pixl implies, you should update to at least the version 3.4 software.  Also set your display to something besides "auto" .  If the info button says NTSC, it probably means 480i.  On the later software versions, 720P and 1080i are clearly identified, unless you have "timeshift" enabled.  THAT kinda screws up the info display, in my opinion.  It's a good box, I have two of them.

I have a Manhattan 1933 I got from Rick a couple of weeks ago, I have been learning most features of it but there is one I cannot figure out! I am trying to edit the PID'S on a channel and must be missing a step! I am going by the manual, it says hit the blue button, in the right there are the pid's ,Polarity, SR, Freq etc, but I cannot highlight them to change them, Is there another button you hit to change them!  Puzzled!!  Wildcat555

From Stone1150:   Go to TP list..... Then add TP if it isn't listed already. Then highlite the frequency.  Arrow to the right. Then you will see the place to add PID info.  Enter, save, scan

What I was trying to ask was how to edit the Audio, Video, and PCR of a channel you aready have in the box? Or Manually enter a Channel and Manually enter the Audio, Video and PCR on the Manhatten.

I tried the steps above and could only Change the Frequency and SR, I had no options to add the Audio, Video, and PCR. Can this be done?

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but I haven't seen it in my quick scan of the thread...
Has anyone been able to get the jump forward feature to jump in 30 second jumps? When watching a recorded program stream, mine jumps in 1 minute jumps even though I have the setting set at 30 seconds.

I can't manually enter PIDs either, including using the method described by Stone

Mine seems to do it OK most of the time, but I think on the highest bitrate channels it may be having a problem with I/O speed that taxes its ability to count. It probably should have had an eSATA connection for extra storage I/O headroom instead of the much slower USB2. Good thing my storage unit is both, so that I can use eSATA when it's time to transfer recordings to a PC. Even using eSATA it takes a while to make those transfers.

Here's an update to my efforts at getting the RS-1933 to recognize the DiSEqC 1.0 switch in my set-up.

Jeff Schumann sent me a replacement unit. It came loaded with the 2.6 firmware. Same problem with the DiSEqC; could't get function unless I removed the switch and fed in the C or Ku coax separately. Jeff advised me to load the 3.4 file from the Manhattan site. I did that but no improvement.

Jeff wasn't sure whether there was a problem with the unit seeing a DiSEqC when there was a PowerVision PV23-404 4X1 splitter in the chain. He said he and his engineers couldn't possibly know all the splitters. I mentioned that this splitter is one Rick recommends for such an arrangement as mine (2 DVB receivers slaved to a Drake 1824 and a Motorola 4DTV sidecar). Last week he said he'd do some homework on this question.

This morning he deferred on that question, rather asking about my system configuration. He suspected that I might "have an isolation issue which is generally a problem when using multiple receivers."

I'll comply with this request but I'm still puzzled as to why all the rest of my DVB receivers have worked fine in this config. I've swapped inputs with no improvement. Even when I hook up the RS-1933 separately I still have the DiSEqC issue. Doesn't make sense.

I recognize that each set-up has its own quirks that are hard to diagnose from afar. So I'm asking this group again whether any of you has had RS-1933 difficulty with a config similar to mine. If so, maybe we can help Jeff improve his product. Or show me where my arrangement is problematic.

BTW he hasn't responded to the local time setting issue. I've found a partial solution but it's not robust. Some of you have mentioned the same. If this is of interest to the group I'll share my observations.

Thanks.

I wonder if the jump issue is related to the frame rate of the stream. I'll have to look and see if the feature works properly on either 29.97 fps or 59.94 fps. I'll have to check what the frame rate is on the video I've been watching.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
