Can someone point me in the right direction to download the latest version of Enigma?  The link in the sticky isn't working.

Thank you!

The latest Enigma 2 versions are actually Open Mod AZbox Betas that use the new kernel 3.3.1.  If you load this into your receiver you will only be able to run anything that uses that kernel.  For example if you load one of the Betas in image 0 then anything on image 1 or 2 that uses the older kernel will be inoperable.  If you want to go back to the older kernel you could re flash image o to a firmware that uses the older kernel and then anything that is on image 1 and 2 will work again that previously ran the older kernel.   Since all images must use the same kernel you can not have 2 different ones at the same time.

If you like the OpenRSI image that is OpenPLI based then you will like the Betas.  All the newer kernel images are OpenPLI based so the menus are just like you would see in OpenRSI.

The last Enigma version that uses the old kernel is 1.8.1.  Also all AZtrino, Spaze, and the original OpenRSI images all use the older kernel.  You can download E2 RTI 1.8.1 here but you will need to register.

http://www.azbox-enigma.eu/RTi/forum/showthread.php?1038-AzBox-Me-RTi-Core-v1-8-1-23-03

I recommend staying with the older kernel as the Betas with the newer one from the RTI and OpenRSI teams are still in development.  There are many features that won't work right in the newer kernel until their final versions are out.  There is a new team that has their version of E2 based firmware called Persian Empire E2 and again that is a Beta and uses the new kernel.

With 3 images available on the ME the best choices are OpenRSI, Spaze 1.1, and AZtrino 1.82 NA all which use the older kernel.   With Blind Scan working well on AZtrino 1.82 NA I can't see going to any of the Betas as none of them have Blind Scan working right now.  Even the older RTI E2 Blind Scan doesn't work well at all.

Thanks, Emil.

I wanted to try the newer version without the new kernel.  I didnt like the crashes with the AZ Trino.

I'll give 1.81 a shot.

Thanks!

What's the secret to using that site? Every time I've tried to register I get a page saying the following:

We are offline!

We will be back soon!!!

Does it use the same userid and password as bugs.azbox-enigma.eu? I have no such problem there.

The RTI site above has now closed and moved to here

http://openazbox.info/forum/

Their are only images with the new kernel available for download now from the new site

So is there someplace I can download something newer than 1.8.0 that still uses the older kernel?

I just got my Me from Rick last week, and 4+ month old 1.8.0 is what he put on [0], along with AZtrino 1.82 on [1].

I put OpenRSI on [2], which currently reports 2.1 with kernel 2.6.22.19, and works best of the lot, except it won't allow setting and keeping date correctly. I can set it via telnet login, but it won't stay set, and there's no menu to set anything to do with date except for timezone.

The only images I know of now using the old Kernel are RSI, and have daily builds, but you seem to have that already on boot 2.

Everything is moving to the new Kernel 3.3.1. Even RSI have a beta out on Kernel 3.3.1 released, I believe in the last couple of days

I got logged into the forum, but can't find any download links that work. Whatever I've found in forum messages gives me links to Windows-style downloading generally, but no links to files to choose for download, and nothing that looks anything like normal links to mirrors where other things Linux and FOSS are normally found. Going back up to http://openazbox.info/ where I'd expect to see some kind of download link I see nothing. Where are these upgrades hiding?

The OpenRSI downloads that are on their main page all use the older kernel.  They have had Betas out for quite some time using the new kernel from around May from what I remember or even earlier.  For their Betas they haven't been using their main page likely so there's no confusion.

Below is a link to the last version I know of using the new kernel from OpenRSI.  Like always use at your own risk if you want to try it.

I noticed that my daily build for OpenPLI changed today as code for the azbox HD
and other stuff was added to the kernel.
Yesterday code and pics for handling the HD remote had been added

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
